Together We Can Transform Lives

Preparing food for the hungry and poor.

The statistics are staggering. According to Daily Bread Food Bank of South Florida, 295,000 children in South Florida are living in poverty. In the last decade, the greatest increase in hungry Americans has been among the working poor. Housing is reported as one of the greatest needs by South Florida's county and city governments. More after school and summer school youth programming, day care for the working poor and affordable medical care and insurance are pressing needs.

Working together with parishes, nonprofit partners and the Diocese of Southeast Florida, Episcopal Charities helps parishioners reduce human suffering by funding programs for youth, their families, the elderly and the homeless.

A Network of Support

Through our partnership with the Diocese of Southeast Florida, Episcopal Charities:

  • Facilitates Episcopal Relief and Development
  • Receives and Disburses funds for the Bishop's mission work throughout the U.S. and world
  • Identifies and Disburses Diocesan Human Needs Funds to parish outreach programs
  • Receives and Disburses contributions for programs that meet Diocesan Millennium Goal requirements
  • Administers and Disburses income from the Littell Fund, which subsidizes the cost of living care for seniors from parishes in Southeast Florida
  • Provides professional development and training for volunteers working in parish outreach ministries.

Parish Partners

In partnership with our congregations, Episcopal Charities has funded over 40 outreach ministries each year since 2000, and has awarded a total of $1.7 million in support. Annually, over 170,000 families, elderly and homeless people have been reached by more than 800 parishioners who volunteer in these programs.
