Our Mission |
| |
We partner with and empower the people of our Diocese in answering God's call to respond to human needs.
Our Vision
The vision of Episcopal Charities is to partner with every congregation in building a culture of philanthropy and launching 100 new outreach ministries by 2015.
These ministries serve disadvantaged youth and their families, elderly and homeless persons, regardless of their religious affiliation.
Our Values
We value equally Christ-centered compassion, faithful stewardship, justice, service, and community.
Who We Are
Episcopal Charities' board of directors and staff met in August 2009 at the Duncan Center to review our values, mission and vision for the future. Led by facilitator Christina Drouin of The Center for Strategic Planning, those in attendance engaged in heartfelt and fruitful discussion and dialog about our history, where we are now, and where we see ourselves in 2015.

Local Programs Meeting Local Needs
Backpack Buddies, a new program of St. Mary's, Stuart received a Small Grant from Episcopal Charities to provide backpacks full of healthy and nutritious foods each weekend for twenty-five students from J.D.Parker Elementary School. "Eating lunch at the school cafeteria may be the only food they get the whole day" said Sylvia Hopkins, a health aide at the school. Backpack Buddies is helping fill a need for our children and their families who are having a hard time making ends meet. St. Mary's Youth Group, Junior Youth Group and their parents raise money for the program which costs $5 per week per backpack. Car washes and other fundraising activities are held. The Youth Groups are finding great satisfaction in helping raise money to feed these children who might otherwise go hungry.
